***PICS COMING ASAP WHEN I CAN BORROW A CAMERA FROM A FRIEND, OR AT LEAST A NICER CELLPHONE THAN MY OWN W/ AN ABOVE AVERAGE CAM ON IT***

Hello fellow laser lovers (obsessors)!

Against my better wishes, Ive decided to sell my Optotronics RPL-375 handheld laser module (adjustable endcap version), as well as the following:

-(Stock) padded carring case
-(Stock) battery & charger
-Ultrafire rapid charger
-Ultrafire 2600mah battery
-4Sevens universal silicon handle/strap for LED flashlights

This unit has an average output of 390mW, according to the "RPL Certificate" that Jack sends out with every RPL. This certificate also includes a peak output, as well as a sustained one (over time).

The laser has been used for a total of no more than 25 hours (probably much less), with a STRICT < 3 min ON (ABSOLUTE MOST)/ >5min OFF duty cycle enforced EVERY time, to ensure the longevity of the diode. 3 min was the max it was ever allowed to stay on, but it was generally used in much shorter (20-60 second) bursts. It has NEVER been dropped, exposed to harsh temperatures/conditions, and has always been babied =)

Please let me know if you are interested, or have any questions. Sorry, NO trades.

Asking $550 + shipped

Will get pics up as soon as humanly possible!

Hurry with the pictures because no one will trust you with that much money on your word. Good Luck on your sale and hope to see some nice pictures! Maybe you can take some pictures with your phone until you get a camera? Crappy pics are better than no pics ;).

AH! I should not have posted this yet... I assumed I would have access to a digital camera within no more than 24 hours of typing things out, but all of my options on that front seem to have fallen through. Guess this will have to wait 'till then. sigh :banghead:

While great pics are are always... great:D

They are not a requirement... I know I'm certainly no photographer, nor do I own any high end cameras.

If you have a reasonably modern cell phone, that would suffice.

AHH! Finally got a cam to use.... Will post some pics in a few hours.... Need to sell this thing!

What is the color of the laser ? I can't find it in your posts. That is important for the buyers. Technically it could be a IR laser.

It has to be a 532 nm laser because Optotronics only sell 473 and 532 nm lasers. Being the 375 mW model would mean that it is a green laser.

Sorry yes it is the 532nm version. Going to wait until its dark to post pics

Did you buy this new from optotronics?

If so, when?

Does it have the adjustable tail?

Is it still under any kind of warranty?

Why are you selling?

I have an RPL-165 and it is my favorite laser. I'd love to upgrade to a 375... I'm curious about the relatively high number of hours on it though. That seems high to me.

Re: FS: *MINT* Optotronics RPL-375 laser w/ Ultrafire rapid charger & 2600 mah batter

Hi,

I purchased the laser directly from Optotronics in late 2009, around thanksgiving. I suppose I can understand why you'd say 25 hours seems like a lot, but as like said in the original post, it is probably much less than that. I got that number from thinking about the number of times I actually went to open the case (where it has always been stored when not in use) to take it out to "play" with. Once powered on, I generally kept it powered on for the duration of time that I had it out of the case. I always exercised reasonable and generally conservative duty cycles, afraid that Id blow the diode if I wasn't extremely careful. It is my understanding that handheld modules like this, especially ones with built in heatsinks can safely be used for several minutes at a time without being shut off, assuming the surrounding climate/conditions are appropriate. Keep in mind that when I say that I kept it "powered on for the duration of time that it was out of its case" that I mean the power to the driver j(power switch/key) is kept "armed", not that the diode is left on or power button pressed that entire time.

Re: FS: *MINT* Optotronics RPL-375 laser w/ Ultrafire rapid charger & 2600 mah batter

Also, I am selling it because I am in desperate needs of funds, and have been for some time now. I've had a VERY hard time coming to terms with the fact that Im going to have to let this thing go... This was something that I desperately wanted for almost a decade, and looked at as a pipe dream until it finally became a reality. Even after realizing that I could realistically have one if I was patient and saved, it took me a couple of YEARS of building up a good savings, only to have more pressing events/emergencies wipe it out and start over, to finally be able to order it. This laser means a lot to me, and it truly hurts to come to terms with letting it go (especially for the huge financial loss im going to take because of lower market prices)... But this will be the last thing Ill be worried about if I get evicted or lose my car because I can't pay all of my bills.

Warranty is the one that Jack offers with every laser, but I didn't spring for the upgraded one.

Hope this helps. Ill get pics up asap.. Im going to stop saying "ill get them posted tonight", as I seem to keep jinxing myself every time.

Well, I will definitely be interested in looking when you get pics up. I love my 165, so a 375 would be awesome. I would probably sell a few of mine to make it happen, but I could sell mine after the fact.

When you do post pics, please include beam and dot pics. I really am looking for a nice clan dot with as little splash as possible.

Re: FS: *MINT* Optotronics RPL-375 laser w/ Ultrafire rapid charger & 2600 mah batter

Ok, so I FINALLY took some pics... Sorry it took so long! I used a basic (Fujifilm) point & shoot camera with all of the settings on "auto". I tried to cover every angle possible, and did my best to get some of just the dot... I turned the output down for some of them so that you could see it (the dot) a little better.. You can easily see that there is little to no "noise" when it hits a surface, but it may still get even better once the lens has been properly (carefully!) cleaned/dusted off. Let me know if there are any other questions!

PS, if I didnt mention it before, I will be including 1 of the 2 "crystals" that are seen in the pictures.. I believe they have 25 sides to them, but it could be more. They are really fun to play w/ at night though... They split the beam into 16+, each of which is still powerful and distinctly visible w/o smoke or fog. Ill have to get a pic of one in action at some point.

The entire album can be found here

:D :D :anyone: :D :D

Looking at the pics, it looks like the lens head has been unscrewed before. Is that the case and if so, why?

I love optotronics lasers. Of the lasers I own, there is no doubt in my mind that my RPL-165 is the best made and performing of the bunch. But I do want to be careful not to end up with a laser that has a problem.

I noticed some beam splash, my RPL-165 doesn't do that. It has a nice, tight dot withe a slight bit of evenly spread out "spray" but no uneven splash or extra dots or things like that.

It may be as simple as cleaning the lens, which I am comfortable doing. But I would hate to find out there were bigger problems.

I'm not suggesting you would be scamming at.all, but I've found that everyone has different ideas of perfect, mint, good, excellent, etc...

Could you PM the serial number so I can ask Jack about it?

Will do. And the head itself has never been opened.. I took off the aperture cover simply to show the lens being dusty. I will get the serial to you asap. I understand where you are coming from. It is hard to describe, but if you notice in the pic that the "extra dot" is in fact a full circle, almost like an orb that is a reflection of the dot itself. I had a very hard time getting a close up pic of the dot without getting a massive reflection back. The "orb" is actually the dot's reflection in the camera lens. I had to keep changing the angle of the camera to the wall in order to make the lens not pick it up like that, and this was the best I could do.. but it does not show up in person, as it is not an artifact of the beam, but rather an effect of the incredibly bright beam on the camera.. Unfortunately this is the only cam I could get my hands on, short of borrowing someones cell phone. I've got a friend that's a professional photographer, and of course has all kinds of professional equipment that she knows how to use (unlike me!)... If I can get her over here I have no doubt that she would be able to capture it perfectly (w/o any stupid reflections).

The pics look fine. I assume the serial is in the battery compartment, at least it is on mine. Thanks!
