I have three LavaDrive 1 (Groove drive) kits for sale...
These are adjustable linear drivers that only need 1 volt above your diode for supply. That means you can run a blu-ray diode easily with 2 X 3.6 volt rechargeable batteries.
The assembly instructions are included. You can build these for a low range (20 - 150mA's), or a high range. (100 - 500mA's)
I have three kits that I am selling together for $20 dollars plus $3 dollars for shipping and handling.
I also have 5 Fusion Drive kits with assembly instructions. I am not too familiar with the fusion drive. But I believe they are adjustable linear drivers that will regulate current to your blu-ray or red diode with a supply between 5.5 volts and 9 volts.
