No, not my guess anyway...

We are hoping for an increase in output. And I'm sure there will be some (hopefully), but I'm guessing it will not be 15%...

I guessing this because the AixiZ 405 lenses were already coated for 405, which is close to 445. And unless they are changing to a single element Aspheric lens, like my 405-G-1, it most likely will not be 15% better than the AixiZ 405 lens assembly. Because the 405-G-1 is only 15% better than AixiZ 405. And it is a short focus Aspheric. (single optic)

How could their current 3 lens configuration that clips the 'wings' yield the same output as the 405-G-1? That won't happen unless the design is different. (IMO)

But that doesn't mean it won't be better than before...

The first thing I will do, is test compare the output and beam profile with the 5 lenses that I already tested for the 445 diode, and post the information in my lens comparison thread...

Just because they say 15% better, that doesn't mean it will be 15% better...

And 15% better than what? AixiZ acrylic? Or AixiZ 405?

I'll test and include the measurements in my lens comparison thread for all to see...

Hmm, should be more than 15% compared to acrylic right? I mean even the aixiz 405 glass gets atleast 15% over the acrylic doesn't it ?

I just hope the dot is nice and round with no splash.

WOW! I got my order the next day.
I must say these Aixiz 405-445nm lenses really do work wonders on these multimode diodes.

I would also like to thank jayrob for his custom Aixiz focus knob.
These let you come away with a tighter look. Allowing you to,

1. Tighten the lens all the way down with out bottoming out on the diode.

2. When focused for infinity it doesn't make your lens look like it is stiking out on it's last few threads, It closes the gap between the Aixiz module, and the lens retainer ring.

Got my lens today :thanks: However, I noticed something different right away :undecided:
I think the back of the lens is a lot further in. That or the focal length has changed.
I say this because this new lens has to be screwed in a lot further than the 405 ones did.

It's in a different nut now. Same as the AixiZ glass (red) lenses... I have not double checked, but I'll bet the focal length is the same with their red vs 445 lenses...

Just got my 445 glass lens with the custom focus knob yesterday...

They really do make a big difference.

The dot is shaped much better. It is a much better DOT with this lens.

Also Jay's custom focus knob is really nice. It is a much higher quality build than the standard AixiZ focus knob. And it looks a lot better too.

I took a few pictures that I though I would post....

Focus adapter/445 lens arrived.

GREAT work Jay. The output is very nice. Not a spec on the lens, very clean.

The knurled texture is very nice. The lens nut / knob threads are very tight.

The buyer of my 445 laser is gonna LOVE it. Sad I can't keep it

Update:

Although my first order of 70 AixiZ 445 lenses were all good. I just sent my next order of 60 lenses back...

They were a mixed bag. Some were acceptable. (but still about 4% less power than the first batch of 70)

But most were a completely different focal length. The longer focal length lenses were 30% less power.

Also, some had loose optics. I called AixiZ, as well as wrote a letter describing the different issues.

They asked me to just send them all back because they need them to compare and show their suppliers.

I asked that they get me my replacement lenses from the same source that the order of 70 lenses that I got a couple of weeks ago came from.

They did not say whether they were from a different source. This is just what I am assuming. Because of the huge difference in consistency and quality control.

I explained to them that I need:

1. Consistent power output...
2. Same focal length!

Because I machine custom focusing adapters that fit onto the lenses.

Very frustrated that I did not get the same quality as my first 70...

This means that many who are waiting on their orders with me, will be disappointed in a longer wait.

Contact me via PM if you want to cancel the lens part of your order, and still get the kit. (or what ever changes you would like to do)
