FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

Hi everyone. some of you know me from LPF. Up for sale is the latest unique creation: a 85mW blu-ray burner created from a 6x LG burner diode and a kryton with the lavadrive2 dwitching dc current regulator. The driver is 75-85% efficient, has soft-start, and will drain the batteries completely before the laser output decreases at all. The laser runs on two CR123A cells.

NOTE: comes with glow in the dark tailcal, not black. Black tailcap can be requested, as well as an aperture cap.

This thing is more solid, efficient, AND powerful than the $2000 Sonar II.
It has a clear coated, mil machine finish, not polished.

Give me a reasonable offer and it's yours!

PM sent!! I want this ;)

Re: FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

It has quickly become clear that i should post a price range.

The diode in this unit is not an overdriven PS3 laser, it is from the latest generation blu-ray burner drive.

To start, it may seem steep, but offers over $680 will be seriously considered. This is the first unique unit of this power up for sale.

drooooooooooooll :'( i can't get it it is too expensive for me :'(

looks great though

Re: FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

Nice! curious where did you get that casing? i like it!

Re: FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

for a single sample unique sale, this is a good price imo. Just think what your second option is if you really want it.

His casing is from the Kenom group buy. The driver is his special design. The laser diode ---- priceless !!!

My hands are sweating as I type this......may I ask what the divergence is?  Or spot size at a given distance? And are the exit optics glass or plastic?

Regards,

TS

Re: FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

The output optic is plastic, because it was found that it has a higher transmissino than the glass lens. The dot size at 25 ft is about 6mm, and the exit dot size is about 3.5mm.

Wow that is an amazing laser.

Re: FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

My wife just told me, "welcome to the club".  I said, what club?  She said, the grown up club!   This was right after she tortured me into not nabbing this laser!!!

I told her It's a steal.  Throw it on ebay and it's gone in less than 2hrs.

Dr Lava, can you be convinced to part with one of your custom laser driver boards?

I am going to attempt a BluRay silver daisy scope mod......though probably not as powerful as your singular sensation.
Here's a couple pics of one 'Daisy' of a beam expanded, infinitely focussable green laser......

A Blu-Ray version, driven by the eminent Dr. Lava would be over the top!
And as the Daisy scope's main tube fits CR123A's perfectly, 3 of them might work well with his driver circuit....?

Can you post some more pictures? Maybe even a video? But GD, that is awesome. Perhaps you could make some $ by selling the schematics, and/or parts like the driver, or housing, make people get their own diode. NICE WORK. :o

Re: FS: 85mW 405nm solid AL barrel laser blue!!

I'd pay good money for one of his drivers! Drivers are my weak spot. I'm no good with SMD stuff.

What was the difference in transmission between glass and acrylic?
