FRYING a camcorder

Two nights ago I was dropping off my girlfriend at her house and noticed that her neighbors (she lives on the second floor of the the duplex, neighbors on the first) have installed a similar camera on the outside window frame. It looks at the driveway in front of the house and on the surrounding homes across the driveway.

I now can partially relate to the OP. Having this thing pointed onto me every time I pull up to pick her up or drop her off is a bit discomforting...

Knowing you are being recorded can be quite discomforting but the thing that sucks even more is you are probably being recorded 75% of your day without even realizing it XD

I am actually in a small battle at work because my boss just installed a damn camera in the break room. I need to do some research but I have a feeling that might actually be against the law. If it isn't, at least my union may be able to do something about it for us.

... or maybe my 9mm 445 can once its finished

I'm just gonna cut the cord, or expose the wire to the elements with my bluray.

Damaging the wires would cause them to become corroded but for them to actually fail it would likely take quite a bit of time. They would have to get corroded enough to actually break and unless they are frequently splashed with water or bent, that could take ages.

I believe there is a camera in our break rooms. It's getting pretty crazy how they are putting cameras everywhere, but in the break room lunches can get stolen, Snack machines could get broken into etc.

As long as I don't see one in the bathroom.:D

Yeah I think it's legal to put a camera pretty much anywhere but a bathroom. But legal is one thing, moral or acceptable is another.

If the boss installed a camera in the break room, he should have sent out a memo and let everyone know why he was doing it. He's not obligated to, but it's definitely the RIGHT thing to do. At least then people might have accepted it. But for it to just be there one day, in a place where people look for a few minutes of escape from the boss, is not a very welcome surprise.

Someone should talk to other employees, get an idea how people feel about it and then YOU GUYS can do the right thing and email the boss and explain your stance on it.

Or just shoot it out with an air rifle :-)

i have a high powered rws pellet gun that could take that camera lens right out 1 shot lol

I am new(ish) to the forum as well as this thread.

My side hurts.

Funniest thing I have read in a long time!

also wondering about updates!

Having studied Electronics and CCTV security the best course of action is to check your LOCAL laws on CCTV and security cameras. Laws on CCTV equipment vary greatly from region to region and what may be legal in TX might not be in NY or another country even.

Please, before you take action on the cameras with a laser, bb gun or paintball gun, etc. check your local laws. If he is breaking a law and you destroy his property vigilante style the cops are definitely not going to like the fact that you took the law into your own hands. It is always best to work with in the constraints of the law than to pursue your own perceived version of justice.

Just my 2 cents.

Best thread ever you definitely delivered the goods thanks for the pics I didn't think you would actually shoot them out

While I would generally agree, something like this is just plain rude and a direct invasion of privacy even if it was legal. Not to mention I very, very highly doubt the cops could care less about a couple cheap cameras some guy was pointing at his neighbors house. I would have done nearly the exact same thing minus the BB-Gun and instead resorted to more laser cooking.

please keep a camera near your door like others suggested! i really want to see what the redneck neighbor has to say!
and the whole peeping tom and video recording, its only illegal in some states. if the camera is on their property then i think its legal but idk. look up LA laws regarding it.
but really, i dont think i would care if what you are doing is illegal that mother f*cker desrved it!
i hope you got your revenge! (if not then their is more possibilities) :eg:, Justin
