very very HITECH and NOT much at all about pointers or hhelds-or even lasershows-
this shows all that we are NO BIG DEAL when looking AT 'The Big Picture'..

NOBODY BTW "Makes' diodes with LPF in mind-so when you start to bitch about beam shape etc -we are not even the 'secondary market' ..

anyway if you enjoy lasers you will find "PHOTONICS Spectra' a good read-
great stuff we will unlikely ever own---

I wish I had know about the Nov 2015 issue before it came as they included a BIG reference chart of the laser wavelengths -somewhat like the Periodical chart of the elements we saw in Chemistry class (HS)except its lasers-- they DO offer both a laminated copy (35.70$ or paper like what came w/ that issue for $19.95--(ouch)-

recently an article on pointers and aircraft with a nice inside view of a DPSS Green pointer..
waiting now for the OK to copy and post here..
and a great article about lasershows and how hard USA operators work to keep shows safe-- will at least post some quotes from it in THIS thread.

they ask a lot of Qs- I put my laser interest as being a Safety Officer-

here you go guys!!!

www.photonics.com/mpnpwbcp15

afaik each edition comes with a form to fill in and mail back to get a subscription

I passed up the buyers guide--
and went for the printed version ( you can choose to get in on-line)

IF anyone finds prices on stuff please post it in this thread- some AWESOME LPMs and O-scopes too--

IIRC I got a subscription by default when I joined ILDA--

Hi Len, thanks for sharing that with us!
Is that laser wavelength chart still available to look at, I looked through some of the items in the Nov. issue, but didn't see anything. :)

-- I saw ads for selling these both laminated and paper in later issues- mine came with the mag.. so I get fold marks and staple hole --I would hope for $19 itv would be perfect and rolled not folded
Im about to mount it on a backing- & hang on wall.. will take post pics here..

it has much more there than the 'regular chart of wavelengths. Too spendy for me so if I had not gotten that issue...
Placing a link in Mac Thread- this mag has been around 50 years- but it was new to me in 2015 - sorry I failed to get all who wanted help w/ subscription- hindsight- many would have the chart...

The best section is the stuff coming some day-- boom !!!mind blown-
night driving with NO diff from day driving!! Laser headlights that 'know' how to avoid Just the windshields of oncoming cars-- FLIR showing invisible roadside dangers ahead..
all that & it can scan a bag of chips!!

here is but a tiny bit of this chart UNLIKE ANY WE HAVE SEEN MANYTIMES in the past.... tyvm

my bad for thinking that chart was not the same one- it took some time to upload just one corner of it-- and Ass umed it was another chart-- +8 for posting the chart even if my ISP takes forever ...

update
I was right-- the linked chart is just one part of the one I have..
AND I would be indebted if that one was res-sized- I have just ONE monitor..

here are poor quality pics of the one I got free..
don't expect these to be readable in the fine print- will take closer pics later w/ better camera--This chart reminds be of the chem. class chart 'Periodical Chart of the Elements' but for lasergeeks

WTW??

you all missed the point of this thread-- sorry ONVI it was likely NOT thr nov 2015 issue and is was much more than the two charts linked /attached here.

there is 'the' Photonic Spectrum'
and the PHOTONICS SPECTRA which is a mag.
not the same.
Likewise the two charts are quite different- The larger contains Upton's chart and a lot more.

afaik there is no link that has this chart..its NEW. (or was)

BUMP

maybe you are reading so fast that you missed the POINT.

In what universe is Photonics Spectra the SAME as Photonic Spectrum???

READ slower dood!

You did the forum NO FAVOR posting your Spectrum chart.

THANKS Jeff (BTG) for posting the chart I wrote about..

UPDATE .....the latest paper issue of PS (the trade mag) has another and updated massive chart.
IF you read this thread and did NOT subscribe to at least the on-line mag--well you F-up.
I highly suggested that anyone with a real interest in lasers subscribed to the paper version.

Coz if you had --you too would have gotten the $20 chart free.. It has been ~2 years since the first chart.. maybe signing up NOW will get you the next free 20$ chart --(in 2 more years myb)
OR you can pop for $20 and get the paper version OR for ~$35 you can get the Laminated version.

I kinda like all my stuffs FREE... ah you too!! thought so.
DID I mention that this mag is FREE???
I have made threads on some of the kewler articles like 'Lasers reveal new info from fossils'
by Autumn C. Pylant..

in this months Photonics SPECTRA (mag) and another great article on the last page (lighter side)
Imagine you are walkingtalking on your (not so) Smart phone when you hear ''Be Careful'' -- kinda
'fitting' since cellfone talkers are being killed at an alarming rate--in 2017 (only) there were 5,984 distracted walkers killed (while ALL other traffic deaths have declined (Govs.Highway Safety Assoc).
AND for you paranoid types this has been accomplished at Purdue U. so that none of our privacy has been violated. (but feel free to put on your tinfoil hats..)

Private Human addressing-- uses lasers to detects cars/trucks near you and can save a lot of lives..

" ... Purdue has developed a system called PHADE =PRIVATE HUMAN ADDRESSING.
That allows surveillance and other cameras to send an alert to a smart phone (w/ the app).
..which logs accelerometer, gyroscope and gravity readings. '
WE see funny vids of talkers walking to things... but that is not funny when the 'thing' is a vehicle.
you can gets PS (the mag) online--go to www.photonics.com (the trade mag) and fill out a form and you are done. I have mailed the forms to mail in & get the paper version--did ANYONE follow up on that??

At 1st I wanted so send this new one to one of my buds BUT there are some new lasers listed. (& my 1st chart is mounted and hanging on my wall)

..
HEADS up SanFran-members et al- for 5 days in Feb a big event is happening at the next Photonics ( West 2019.. from the 2nd to the 7th.
IF you go and are not careful you will likely learn something new-- IIRC this event is NOT free. (unlike the trade mag)

This is the premier event for the photonics and laser industries.

And if you are wanting/thinking about a career involving lasers going to this is a no-brainer.
PM me for company info on ones in or near SanFran.. by contacting them now you may get in free in Feb.. ( not sure but worth a try. Doing that works well for free entry to the HUGE TEXAS FOOD EXPO in Dallas and Houston..(once per year) taste test hundreds of edibles ( even booze!).. get free samples- and more--some years I went twice-=and on the last hours of the last day--WOW--vendors do NOT want to take anything home -so just ask--I got >8 pounds of ground and whole bean coffees. (bring a wheeled 'luggage' cart) -- got a boatload of pens- calendars- keychains-frig magnets-etc - hundreds of food industry vendors and ALL give away something.. I am sure the laser event is not giving much away..

I have a paper subscription of "Biophotonics" that was free and comes once a month. It has a lot of lasers used in medicine and for medical procedures. It is an interesting read, if anyone is interested.

PM coming....not yet learned how to add a pic to a PM.
look at this very common item;

HELP name of parts where to buy.jpg

Hi, Len. PM sent. They are available on Amazon for $4.99 for ten pairs. If you need more help, let me know.
