fluorescent dyes

Just imagine shining your green or violet laser into an aquarium or swimming pool. Your eyes bulge out from the excitement from seeing the beam change color to orange  or green. the beam bounces into another layer of water and turns blue magically. Your friend are blown away.

I have some fluorescent dyes sitting around

here are the specs

sodium fluorescein max absorption 480nm max emission 550nm ( looks yellow green in water)
looks like crushed brick when powdered
rhodamine b max absorption 532nm max emission 590nm ( looks orange yellow with laser beams going through it.
looks like irridescent black power.

both dyes go crazy under 405nm lasers

Rhodamine B and sodium fluorescein can cause some nasty reactions in the body.  I wouldn't recommend putting it in a pool or anything else where someone will likely be exposed to it.

my mistake for suggesting to eat it or wear it. just trying to give some good ideas on how to use.

That would be sweet at a pool-party. Every on would have a tan when they get out of the water.

Yes, it is used for medical treatments, but dyes or contrast can cause adverse reactions after treatment... benefits outweigh risk for treatment.

Anyway, I'm not trying to scare anyone away from buying the stuff... it isn't going to give you cancer or kill you from touching it, I just wouldn't suggest anyone ingesting it or, in the case of a pool, having a large exposure to it.

These are great fluorescent dyes, though.

underwater laser shows are very cool especially when the green beams becomes orange or yellow.

glows orange yellow, depending on the solvent you put it in. water makes it orange alcohol yellow, maybe carbon disulphide will make red?
