Florida first time laser buyer... now hooked.

Well, recieved my new batteries and charger. 7 hours later the new batteries went from red light to green light; fully charged. Into my, so called, 1000mW laser pointer and... a little smoke on black plastic. Can't say I am surprised really. $139.00 lesson learned. It is a focusable beam and extremely bright but of course I was hoping for much more heat.

I am off to read more of this forum now.

Anything >1000mw will burn black plastic like crazy, so much you'll need to be in a ventilated area as the smoke is toxic (yay cancer)

a properly focused 100mw would also do it quite easily
