I've been looking for a 589 now for some time and considered it the final building block that I wanted in a collection after acquiring 473. I advertised in the BST section and quite soon got a PM from Gismo (Mike) here who is reducing his collection, and offered to sell me his DragonLasers Spartan 589.
He offered me a fair price for his hardly used Spartan and the deal was done. The parcel arrived in 3 days, which is typical of post I get from Ireland - it can be quicker than receiving parcels from England!
Inside is the promised Spartan, and some gifts very kindly enclosed. A small camera tripod, a little stainless steel green laser pointer (!), and a diffraction grating, which I am over the moon about as it will greatly enhance what I can do when I get the camera out.
The yellow laser blew me away when I turned it on. In fact I think I probably swore a few times it was that good! Visible beam in a daylit room if you bring it up to your face (looking "down" the beam, I don't mean shining it in my eye!), instant on almost like a diode laser (it actually starts quicker than my laserbtb green) and is visibly very stable - mode changes and output fluctuations are only just noticeable if it is set very still against a bright background. It exceeded all my expectations, I genuinely didn't think it would be anywhere near this bright. The host is bigger and heavier than I expected, I actually wondered if there was a battery inside when I unpacked it.
All in all super pleased with everything and like the first time I dealt with Mike this was just as pleasant, so thank you. The extra gifts were also appreciated.:drool:
