First time building laser, PLEASE HELP =]

so basically i was wondering, is my current atm really 1000mA?

this is how i built my testload, i think i might have built it wrong




But anyways just liked to clarify once again am i doing this right or w.e thanks

but yaeh thanks guys ima just turn my pot to maximum resistance as i read the thing and slow crank the thing up

my greatest issue atm is still soldering the wires to the diode but i hope this time i will not screw up
