So I got my PHR sled in today, ripped it down bare, and kept the optic parts and of course the diodes. Now I knew there was going to be two diodes that were in the sled that I could use, but I don't know which one is which :s So I'll link to a picture of them, can anybody tell me which one is the blu-ray one I want?
Picture of Diodes
Thanks

Chris

Dude there is tooooooooooooooons of info on the PHR. Take a minute and look for it.

SOOoooo -- Use the search features here. I believe there are videos on harvesting almost any LD here.

Where did you buy that sled from? That is a DT-0811 diode NOT a PHR-803T diode. It is not as powerful as a PHR. When you are researching info on what to run it at, look for info on the DT-0811.

I'll see if I can find a graph for this one. It may not be in the diode round-up.

Peace,
dave

You can see that it failed at 139mA, but more important is the location of the first kink. It is hard to see in this picture but the first kink shows around 80mA. In order for the diode to live a long, healthy life, you will have to keep it under 80mA.

This was the second diode used in the XBOX 360 HD-DVD players. They came after the PHR's

Weird, I thought it was the PHR that was used in the 360 sleds... Did I miss something?

Sorry. I didn't know I was in a race. You can go ahead and start any time you want ;)

Peace,
dave

hmmm, that's a bit of crappy information to learn. But non the less helpful. Thanks. I do really want to put a phr in my pointer.
I got it off of ebay, under the impression that the xbox hd dvd sleds used phr's. clearly only the earlier versions did :(

Yeah. Back when we were buying these HD-DVD players to harvest the diodes, we had to take a chance that the player we got might be from the "newer" version. There was no way to tell until we opened the case and saw the version number on the drive. By then it was too late to get a refund :(

The violet diode is the one in the "rounded" heat sink. Yeah. They are a pain in the a$$ to remove as well

Peace,
dave

**EDIT**
Here's a shot of the DT-0811 sled

And the PHR-803T sled

i'm finding that out now :( Thanks for giving me a heads up though.

Hold it carefully in a vice and use a small file to "cut" through the rear portion of the heat sink (just down to the brass) on a couple of sides. You should then be able to pry it out with a sharp point

Peace,
dave

Working a bit better. I tried giving a forum search on the diode and had a hard time finding any information on the dt-0811, could you point me in the right direction? Also, if you point me in the direction of a place where I can get my hands on a phr?

You will find almost no info on this diode/sled in the forum. We didn't want them ;)

For a PHR try:
