Hi,
I have been playing with handhelds for a little while now and have been thinking of trying to use a galvo for fun. I have zero experience with these devices and was considering one of the cheap systems on eBay to fiddle with and get my feet wet. The one I have my eye on is this one

20Kpps HightSpeed Galvo scanning System (including Show Card) | eBay

I am just wondering how difficult this will be to use and if anyone here could help me iron out any wrinkles should I get it.

I own a couple lab style lasers around 1w I could use with it.

Can anyone here make some suggestions regarding this or maybe another cheap system for a first timer. I know it's cheap but I have a few other $100 tows I could never figure out and don't want to add to that inventory.

Thanks,
Jeff

be warned :p you will need good software and a good DAC.

scanners are only a fraction of the cost ...heh

I have an M-audio USB Firewire solo DAC...think that will work? I used to be heavy into HiFi audio and have several hand built DACs as well...

Is the software included with the cards mentioned? Is it difficult to use?

I know this may sound stupid but is there any info on how to set up the laser and how it actually interfaces with the galvo?

Kiyoukan already finished that group buy a month or so ago. You'll be spending about $210 to get a PT-30k from SpaceLas without a GB type deal. I would just go get a 20k galvo from SpaceLas on eBay for $150 or so and then work your way up.

No jump in on len's DT GB they are much better than pts the DT 30ks would be amazing first galvos.
