Hey guys, I am having a problem regarding my Firefox plugins. I thought maybe you guys could help. So the problem is, I'm running like the newest version of firefox with the oldest version of Shockwave flash, and firefox won't let me update the plugin. And for some odd reason, no browser on my pc will play YT. When most programs are being opened it says something like this: "Cannot open program; missing wininet.dll file. I don't know what the problem is but since my pc is dual boot, I'm using ubuntu, although many of my good programs aren't installed on ubuntu.

Wow....as of yesterday I started having Firefox video problem. Thought it was a isolated issue maybe not. I keep getting told to install Adobe flash which I did 5-6 times.
My home PC's seem to last about 1-1½ years before everything is so messed up and "updated" it stops functioning properly and I buy a new one. Totally hate new technology that needs "updates" evey single freaking day.

When I was young stuff didn't hit the shelf until it was tested to WORK out of the box and keep working without constant fixes. Today most things are released far from completion in hopes they will just fix everything with a patch or update...hate it

LOL

When I was young, we had slide rules, and they always worked right out of the box.

Windows never worked perfectly out of the box, and the later releases were always to fix problems in the earlier releases.

I don't remember there being a time when software releases WERE released w/o bugs and problems....except maybe outside of the Windows world, such as Apple, etc...but none were "immune".

I think there are simply too many variables for them to catch every potential problem, and, they just do what they can, and then release things. After the releases, the almost infinite number of combinations of programs and widgets, etc, eventually combine to find some that don't play well together, and, then, they work on THOSE issues for the next release/updates, etc.

Well I guess I'll try reinstalling Firefox. If that doesn't work, I'll reinstall Windows and use Ubuntu for now, as my pc is dual boot.

Another option you have to be configurable is to run this linux distribution from a USB-flashdrive. Download and install to an ext4 formatted one. Set BIOS to boot from USB.

All fixed. The problem was the computer had failed to install updates.
