Finished my RRGB laser projector - PHOTOS!

Some high power 638's just started appearing on ebay in the last week or so. However.. No one as of yet has received and tested any of them to see exactly what they are.

Pontiacg5 got his today I believe, but says he doesn't have time to test them.
 





Amazing... I am currently building my first one right now, but I have hit a little problem... I ran out of money... :(

Oh well just got to sell some stuff.

Its looking really good man. I'm assuming you used a flexmod for the 660 and 445?
 
WOW! Half a watt of red for only $25, I just ordered 6 of them for use in two more laser projectors I am building. I also have a LaserBee USB light power meter on the way so I will make measurements.
 
Er.. I can see buying a couple for testing. But i'm not sure I would have gone with 6. heh. Nobody knows exactly what these are. They could not even be 638's. Or they could be and have HUGE emitters and totally horrible divergence. I only ordered 2 500's, 2 200's and 2 120's myself. Since they appear to be different diodes according to pontiacg5, I figured I might get lucky and at least one type be halfway usable for something.

but before I even start I am curious ... how much did it cost you to finish this ?

Altogether it cost me about $1000 minus the software/controll which cost $600 from Pangolin. I used decent 30kpps (at 20 degrees) galvos and those alone cost $300.

Please let me know if you notice if the divergence is better/worse bettween the 500/200/120 versions. If the 638's don't work out I can always sell the others here on LPF ;)

Lol. Unlikely if they turn out to be crap and word gets out. :na:
 
I switched my order from 6 of the 500mW's to instead 2 of the 200mW's and 5 of the 500mW's. I will let you know if the divergence is any different between the two...
 
Well I'll know first.. Since I ordered both like a week and a half ago. :D

Mine should be here next week sometime.

Lazerer got some 100's and 120's in today. He said the color of the 100's looks like 660 instead of 635.. So things aren't looking good for these being actual 638's. Still waiting on the 120 tests.

dissapointed, but can't say I'm surprised
 
Same here. I didn't really have my hopes up anyway. Even if they were wavelength correct, I figured they'd have horrible beam specs.
