FEELER(Sort of) PLT5488 488nm Group Buy

I think it's worth giving that a try with this seller... if you see this joey can you try asking? Or can you send me their email so I can give it a shot? Or singlemode or someone else with the business sense to knock down the price?

Is there any progress in lowering the price? If not, I could do it myself if I would get the connection.

Singlemode

@ Singlemode

You might try sending a PM to joeybab3 about the contact. I don't know why he would want to keep it to himself, but if that is the case, all you can do is try.

Sorry for disappearing again, I think I sent the info to singlemode. I tried asking for pricing for more increments but I'm not even a legal adult yet so my negotiating skills are in need of work. That being said I now have a number of 505's that I'll try and sell on eBay, and in the mean time I may be able to get Dora to do like 3 diodes at the current price. They charge a flat 35$ for Dhl express two day so that would be factored in too. Let me know if anyone's still interested and we can work something or, otherwise I'll keep waiting on news of either more 480s or sharps 488s to come out.

Is the pin out on these new diodes different from the other three? Also, in the states, at least, you can ship those diodes for under $5.00, unless you go with priority mail. But even that isn't more than $10.00.

It shouldn't be any different. As for shipping, yeah the prority mail flat rate boxes that I use are only like $7.something its the flat $35 dhl 2 day that Dora charges that I have to spread out among all the diodes.

Any plans for this? Only vaguely interested. Do you have something organized with the seller, how many are involved in the group buy so far, etc?

A: I hope
B: I can't organize something with the seller until I have a nmber to ask them for, but they've said yes to 1 in the past.
C: I don't know that's why I asked again and said who's interested. I could put in the order right now at $300 a diode plus ~7$ shipping but people seem to be holding out for another price drop. I've tried lowering the price but to no avail.

In all honesty, $300 is already a fine price for this diode. Most retailers are selling them for around the $800-$1,500 mark. Expecting another price drop on an already very good price may be something you'll need to wait awhile for. :)

See thats what I thought... Reguardless the offer stands, anyone who's interested let me know.

Not really. AFAIK Sharp is finishing up their diodes and they should be available in a few months, for a price which is considered "much cheaper" by the Chinese.
I think that's why most people are waiting.

I have had two sources say so, one indicating the 480nm diodes were test batches trying to tune the WL to 488nm. (Hence they dried up)

One said "soon but we don't know how soon" and the other estimated a few months, about a month ago. Didn't hear a peep since.

That's all I have sadly...

I'm tempted to buy another one of these because I know the pinout is something I can work with in a pen build I have planned. But if the sharp ones are case independent itll probably be leaps and bounds cheaper. Tough call.

This means nothing to me, as you've given no details. Who said that, what's their credibility, etc.
