hey, i've re-read the FAQ today and one thing we're still missing is writing a clear difference between blue and bluray lasers, i know many people have that confusion (i had it too at first)



Aren't Blue lasers and Blu-Ray lasers the same?
No, blue DPSS lasers work at 473nm in contrast to Blu-Ray lasers which are created with a single Blu-Ray diode (it can be harvested from a Blu-Ray player). The latter one works at a 405nm wavelength.

Technically, not ALL DPSS blue lasers work at 473nm. ;D Another common wavelength for Blue DPSS is 457nm, and I'm sure there are others.
 
It is general information, we can't go on saying: Yeah blu-ray laser diodes can vary from 402nm to 407nm & stuff





Or.....can we ;)
 
Well I think that all of the blu-ray diodes have a central wavelength of 405nm plus or minus however many, but they're still rated at 405. BUT DPSS does have more than one shade of blue. 457 is more common than one may think! I think it should be added that most 'true blue' hand-held lasers are 473nm :)
