FAP Laser Module Columniation

I have a 40 watt - 808 nM laser module. The output is a SMA connector. the beam is highly divergent.
Has anyone found a good way to get that beam under control ? I copied an article from LPF long ago about
using a biconcave lens. I'm getting minimal results.

The way the FAP modules bundle beams is not conducive to long range focusing, the fiber laser pump modules use better diodes and knife edging and the active fiber system they power have much better beam quality with the MOPA systems having excellent beam quality.

That said people have had decent short/mid range results with just the pumps and a scope/beam expander.

I looked at your info and I'm not sure mine fits. The FAP unit has 19 laser diodes in a row.
there are 19 fibers connecting these to an output connecter with 19 individual fibers.
These, with a lens, will project an image of 19 dots. Will your info work with this design?
I'll try your suggestions. One study asks about using a dcc lens...

RC----- I'm now messing with a real fiber laser ! 915 nM @130 Watts !And that through a VERY TINY fiber. I'm currently trying different
cutting methods but all GTH when only about 10 Watts is applied. Mike

If you are using the fiber then it needs to be cleaved and polished otherwise it will burn backwards, but if building a burning " toy " or laser blaster type build, then removing the fiber coupling optics and fiber from the pump is a better way to go.

Remember the Laser safety goggles and extra caution when dealing with NIR.

This thread appears to be little in the direction I am going with my setup. Red you are aware of my setup of FAC/SAC lens setup etc. I noticed that it burns a piece of paper either upper or lower depending on how close i approach the lens that is mounted on my 40Watt diode laser. I will provide an image on the next thread.

Would you recommend using a cylindrically shaped glass rod to help with the focusing of the beam?

I am at a loss for using any glass rods? Also I have some glass fiber bundles that are used in the industrial are of light beam breakage and control. I tried send the beam through the bundle and it appears to focus the bean narrowly out depending on the distance of the output to the fiber.
