Extreme Light Infrastructure & MacGyver's lasers :D

You might want to check this out, if you haven't already done so...
ELI : European Project > Extreme Light Infrastructure

The EU is planning to build an exawatt-class laser in the ELI Project, and my city (Pécs) is so far the most likely candidate to host it.

What would you do if you got your hands on the controls for that laser? :D

Starting some interesting experiments ..... as example, punching holes in white paper, polystirene, doors, cars, armored trucks, ships, cement walls ..... :p :D

Anyway, i don't smoke, so can't use it as cigarette lighter

Straying off topic in my own thread, I just watched the pilot episode of MacGyver, in which he has to traverse an elevator shaft defended by a "10,000 watts gas-discharge laser". He uses it as a lighter to light a cigarette, reveal the (bluish) beams with the smoke, and uses the prism from his binocular to reflect the output back into the emitter, destroying it. He remarks: "That's kinda pretty" when he sees the scanning beams :D

And it's blue!!!

That's MacGuyver at it's best...

I like the blow-a-hole-in-the-wall-with-a-gramm-of-sodium trick...
