Well.....Just a little concept drawing I did. We can have it all !!

With a standard LSP style mount....Yaw adjustability is available....but not Pitch.

See Drwg. PALDM-V7 attached. This might be one way to use a three ( 3) piece unit to achieve Pitch Adjustability !!! Good solid contact at all interfaces. About +/- 2mm travel....More than enough Pitch translation !!!

Outer slots in the lower seat give Yaw control. Upper slots provide travel and set for the upper seat.

Just a thought....Until I machine one.....I will not be sure the design is feasible !!!

Always thnk'in !!! Never seen one like this before. Any commercial manufacture that makes this.....you're welcome....Hmmm....not to humble hey !!!

Oh Well....It might work !!!

Re: Experimental Pitch Adjustable LD Mount

Interesting, Bob. But, right now I'm concerned with how the 20 mm copper module from DTR will line up with a NUBM44 in it. This is how I must do it to use this new host I just got. If it were a lab setting I could come up with a way to adjust for pitch and yaw, but I don't have that luxury.

Re: Experimental Pitch Adjustable LD Mount

Nice design CDBeam. If the heat transfer is good enough than it should work. One thing remains to be tested and that is how easy/hard it is to align the mount properly. Look forward to your results.

Re: Experimental Pitch Adjustable LD Mount

Thanx SM....This design would work....with precision machining a minute gap would result.....I would think a grinding surfacing procedure....delivering 5~7 um.....would be optimal....OH....and while we are "bounding over the top"....Pure Silver for the bottom two components.

Nah....These mounts are not headed into space....just a standard precision machined finish....and a very small application of Artic Silver....should compensate !!!

For our PO time limits.....I would speculate....the difference would be unmeasurable....and only exist in your mind !!!

Well....See the attached drawing....

PACA LDM V11

Pitch adjustable
Yaw adjustable
EZ to set Rotational Angle
Friction Fit for LD
Should have good Thermal Transfer ( Needs tested)
Accepts a Modified 12mm CU Short Module
Relative Small

I may try to machine a Prototype......but have never machined an arc.....think I need a rotating vise !!! It's only money !!!!

For the advanced builds we are getting into......this may be a nice option to have. ???? After hours of alignment fun.....you may agree ???
