All electronics used to have dark emitting diodes (DED's) in their catalog. :D Though they also used to have 410 to bnc adapters too.. Sadly these days, they seem to have lost their sense of humor.

Wouldn't, by definition, the question be paraphrased to be : How about applying power to a "light emitting device" and getting an absence of light for output ?
So many members have constructed so many of these that it isn't worth listing them.
Of course, just about every one of them did this amazing feat unintentionally and without the realization of the implied defiance of the very principles they were trying to enjoy, but that's another topic.
Try overdriving a few LDs. Test each one after there is no light output to see which are still taking in power without anything visible coming out and there you have it...
At least it would seem so in theory.
 
So what everyone is saying, in way too many words, is that with current known tech and elements, it's a far fetched idea. Maybe someday, over the rainbow, I'll carry a flashdark for those annoying sun rays on warm summer days. :D
 
No wood, unless you're in a VR or imaginary world the chances of ever having a darklight are about as big as the chances of you counting to infinity.

i.e. If it happened it would defy quite a few basic physical laws.

Dark matter is just a mathematical cop-out. You can't make anything out of it. No one is ever going to make you a laser out of physicist's inability to explain the way the universe behaves.

Why would he be talking about someday creating antimatter? We've already created antimatter. It is the most expensive material to produce on Earth.
