DUDE! That is supremely cool!

You're 16, and you work for a major optics supplier. How cool is that?

Congratulations man!

Do tell.........how did you come into this job, and what do you do there?

Look, I don't care if you're the new CEO, or you sweep the floor in the warehouse after hours......Makes no difference to me....I'm just curious about how that operation works.

I remember back when they still made telescopes and sold microscopes and stuff like that. Probably many members here remember back before that.....

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in your new job. Who knows, maybe it will lead to a career in optical engineering, or physics. After you are there for awhile, and comfortable, you may want to inquire about tuition reimbursement for college (yes, I know you're 16, but think ahead).

Most of all, remember that alot of people out here are unemployed, and you just got a job with a company doing what you enjoy, so do your best, and learn lots of cool stuff while you're there! Again, congratulations man, and have fun!!!!!

Well I came into the job because one day I went to my art teacher to ask for some small circular mirrors. When I asked her she asked why and I explained to her how I wasmounting them on motors andshining my helium neon laser at them to make Lissajous patterns. She imediatly told me that the mirrors she had were not of laser quality. She told me I need first surface mirrors and that she could get me some from edmund scientific the company her parents own and she works at part time. I knew all of this before hand because im very good friends with her daughter who's in some of my classes. Anyways my art teacher offered to get me first surface high quality mirrors and any others parts I may need and all I had to do was call the company and ask them what parts I would need for my project, but lucky for me my dad is a college professor and he teaches an intro to lasers course and also fiber optics courses so we always have the edmunds catalog (he used to sell his own fiberoptic microscopes in there). I chose just to get a few mirrors and a laser focusing singlet. When I gave the part numbers to my teacher I told her that if they ever needed any help there I would definitely do anything they needed. Then next days she stopped me in the hall. And asked me if I would like to work there. The position she told me I would most likely be doing is I would have to make movies of me assembling expensive equipment and explaining how it works. The otherthing shesaid was that I might just help technicians and set up laser experiments and take pictures of it like for the cover of the catalog! The one of the reasons the art teacher likes me Soo much is for my photography which is very exciting. Right now im currently waiting to hear back from the company about where they wouldlike me to start in the company. I promise to keep you guys posted and who knows maybe ill work my way up in the company and be able to set up a laser pointer forum discount program :)

On another note here is the singlet I ordered will this work when paired up with a 30mw green laser?
TECHSPEC® Laser Focusing Singlets - Edmund Optics

Oh and disregard all dramatical erors I wrote this all from my phone

I wasn't referring specifically to anyone here on this forum. I only meant that in GENERAL there are many folks out of work these days, and CJ208 is fortunate to be getting paid to do something interesting and enjoyable.

don't take it too deep - i was just kidding :P

Not a problem. Don't give it another thought.

BTW, CJ: I apologize if I came off as being "preachy" about other folks being out of work. That's not how I intended it.

I only meant that despite the crappy economy and job situation here in the States, you got a job that you can be excited about, and I think that's really great.

Keep doin' what you are doin', kid.

You're acting (in my experience) like someone who is on the path to some really happy grown-up times, impressing other people, while doing things that you like to do.

I think I was a lot like you, a very long time ago, and that served me very well, and turned out well for me.
