DX 9865 heatsink and driver board - useful for Br?

The heatsink was menationed in another thread already that if perfectly fits AiXiZ-modules...
But how about the driver psu?

It has direct TTL balnking input, so for 17$ you got nearly all you need for a professionall DIY Labbie
The Question is just, not what is the question, but the voltage/current ouutput and TTL input specs.
(the beef: does it regulate the Voltage too and how to make it put out enough for 405' diodes)


Datasheet, anyone???

I doubt it will work well - i have that module here, and the driver isn't the best in the world, although it does have a nice soft start and blanking plugins.

I'd go for that heatsink, but use your own driver so you keep in control of all things electrical. In my opinion $17 isn't too expensive for just the heatsink, and it comes with a very usable housed red diode you could use for another project... not for something with serious burning power, but a pointer or something.

So whats the point with the driver, why its not so good?

Could you test if it gives constant or variable Vout please ?

The driver was designed for a RED Laser Diode that runs on lower voltage than
a Blu-Ray LD needs... If the PS can't out put enough current at the proper voltage...
It may not work for what you want to do....

Then on the other hand you may have found a bargain that could work... ::)
For $17.24 you are not loosing a lot.... if it doesn't work or blow your Blu-Ray LD..
You will still have a 70mW red... ;)

You could always write a review here to let us know how it worked out.. 8-)

Voltage input is 5V. The current is variable via the pot. I'm not sure how high though, but the board can simultaneously drive a green (IR). TTL signal is 5V off, 0V on.

The driver is all but useless for driving anything but red and IR diodes, but the heatsink will house an Aixiz quite comfortably with the inclusion of a pair of set screws and/or glue.

The pots on these drivers are very poor quality, I blew 2 LDs before I realised it was the pot going open circuit as I turned it. The heatsink on the otherhand is very nice.

(OT: Damn...maybe this killed my last Diode. I dont have this DX PSU, it was with my selfmade DDL Driver. the pot was bought from Conrad, this is like our "German RadioShack", but one time i turned it there was a spark and then smoke... rip -.-)

So the TTL Voltage is 5V for Blank. any Spec on maximum Frequency? have red about 10k - correct?

a Way to isolate the TTL part of this PSU for using it on a proper driver?
or maybe a practicable way to tune this for outputting enough voltage to use it with Br?
...cuz, it a professional board with nice security features and would look better than my soldered crap :D

It's probably easier to build TTL control into another driver circuit - doesnt involve that much magic really.

One problem is that many here like to put a buffer capacitor straight on the diode, which is a good safety precaution, but does complicate fast switching.

If we knew where DX was getting these, a GB would be lovely.
