Hello, I am planning to build laser harp and I am going to buy green laser module. I found cheap DX 50mw. Does anyone have experience with visibility of beam at slightly lit room? (light only from window while sunset and PC monitor). Or you recommend with more power?
My second question is about safety. It will shine on the white ceiling. I found something about that reflections are harmful. But will it be harmful while wearing homemade glasses from red cellophane? It blocks 532nm light but I don't know if reflected IR from ceiling is harmful too. Thanks for your replies!

They think you are a returning member who was banned, never mind that though, I will assume you are not him.

To answer your question, at that power level you are safe without safety glasses as long as you are certain there is no risk of a direct hit to the eye, also avoid close up reflections off anything shinny like glass or metal. To be visible enough with dim light and still be reasonably safe, I would stay between 50mW to less than 100mW.

Don't use home made glasses, buy real ones or don't use them, anyway you won't see the beams with the glasses on, I have a feeling that with a laser harp you will need to see the beams.

I am on this forum for first time

Yea, my mistake. I was thinking only about safety so I forgot that beams will not be visible with glasses :D Thanks for your reply.
