Hey all! I know i have not posted any recent projects, not because i haven't been building but because i just haven't taken any pics nor did i have time to make threads
Well freshman year is coming to a close and i finally had time to do an in-depth build.
I had been eyeing this host for a while on Fasttech, not even for a host but for a light in general. Its awesome because it has three parts!
1) The flashlight (large head perfect for laser heatsink)
2) USB out (x2) plus LARGE battery capacity (10200mah @ 3.7v)
3) Charging IN function (via mini-usb)
THE HOST:
Driver and Contact spring:
Spacious Interior
Compliments to MrCrouse for an excellent job as usual
THE BUILD:
The driver of choice is the X-boost mini. This is the only driver i had and normally, its capable of 1.8a, which is what i wanted, but EVERY TIME I TRY TO SET AN X-BOOST MYSELF, it permanently goes into thermal protection mode and i can only set it to 1.45a. Oh well,
Now i dont have a picture but in the process of re-utilizing the pill i had to destroy the original driver, so i used a circle of perforated protoboard as a contact board.
Quick test:
Thermal Epoxy the driver onto the back of the heatsink
Added insulation:
Head Assembled:
All assembled:
Add your 3 18650s! And PRESS DAT SWITCH!!!!
The great thing is that you can use the battery indicator to tell you when your batts are low, so NO GUESSING!
CONCLUSION:
This host is awesome. If you are in need of a flashlight i guarantee you will love it! The USB in/out function is awesome, and the thickness of the host is perfect for long runtimes, flashlight or laser
This will probably be sold, or it may be put into my collection
Who knows, but it is an AWESOME LASER and it was so much fun to build.
I hope you enjoyed this build, and i hope to build more soon!
