Dragin lasers viper 95mW

Someone i know who has a viper 95mW is selling ti for 100 usd, originally 220 usd. It is used and wasn't treated very good, he lost it in a pile of snow for about a month, and it still works, it was completely under water when he found it. If any one is interested i may offer lower, if any one wants to take the deal post here. No pics or vids because i don't have it...

Lost it in snow and was underwater? Does it even still work at full capacity?
 
it works perfectly, burns, lights matches, pops balloons and light fireworks. If any one wants to haggle with him tell me your asking price.
 
The first sentence starting with 'someone' put me off, the words $100USD got me interested, and as soon as you mention burried in snow I completly lost interest.

Perhaps if this was a waterproof laser, which is is certainly not. Doesn't the cold actually damage laser diodes?
 
How the hell does someone lose a $220 laser in the snow?  Then again, with all these parents--and I use that term in only the strictest of definitions--forgetting their own children in hot cars, where they spent the last few hours of their lives in 150+ F temperatures, I'm not surprised.

Well, if your friend wants to make the most off it, he should work with you and post some pictures at the very least. I can't imagine a laser being completely saturated in water for a month and still work, especially without any defects! :o Other then the extremely sensitive electronics, the optics, the crystals, THE DIODE... UNDER WATER? [smiley=bath.gif]
 
He was riding his dirt bike with his friend and he has it in his pocket, and it fell out in the snow and was found a moth later working fine under water. Its amazing i know, ill see if he wants me to get some pics and stuff.
 
Well in theory the crystals diode and all the other sensitive electronics could have escaped unharmed. If the back end was securely fastened it would have shielded the driver and other bits in the back from the water, whereas the crystals diode etc. would have been shielded by the IR filter mounted in the front. I definitely think that the way in which these CNI pen lasers are constructed does provide some form of water resistance I'm not saying to go diving with one, but I can see how it might have survived some snow and a puddle.

I submerged my DX 30 once in my toilet and it survived and put out more than 20 mW ! ;D

you did this on purpose?? lol

if not, what were you doing with a green laser near the toilet in the first place :-?

yeah that sounds like an interesting story....

I'm trying to get my hands on his laser for some pics, unfortunately im going on vacation for a week so i wont be able to do any thing for now...(i may re-post the offer in buy-sell-trade upon my return)
 
did he have to clean the lens? or dry it out at all before he turned it back on?
