Hi, all.

Harvest of red diode is not easy for me everytime.

Today I've harvested red diodes successfully from Samsung SH-S223B and SH-222A. I was happy BUT when I tried to put it in Aixiz, it was strange..:yabbem: and I found that it was somewhat small.

Oh my...:(

The diameter of LPC-815 is about 5.6 mm but this one 3.8 mm.

Until I get a proper module for this red diode, it will stay in my drawer long time.. Or I'll try current test..

This is the same red diode that is in the BDR-203 sleds. I had one , but did not get a chance to test it (it was stolen in the burglary). There are a few members that can fabricate an adapter for you.

This is significantly better than the "flat, plastic" red diode that is in the LG model. ;)

Peace,
dave

Hi, Daguin.
Thanks for your advice.:)

I choose 22x dvd burner because red diode in a BR 8x burner is 16x.

It was hard time to harvest red diode form LG 22x last time.
So I choose Samsung this time.

22x DVD is under $20 in Korea and I'll try another LG for improving my harvesting skill.:yh:

Good luck, and welcome to the forums!

Remember, that the burning "speed" is dependent on more than just power output.

Peace,
dave

Thank you, mfo.

And thank you, daguin.
I am now in my office and when I come back home, I'll have to look for my BH08 in trash can.... two of BH08....:cryyy:
After harvesting only BR diode, I threw them....

hi Shin,

can you measure laserpower?
i would like to find stronger diodes than the common LOC, even if they come from new drives. i am thinking about a class IV red.. :-)

IIRC, somebody tested one of these 3.8mm, open can reds. I cannot find the thread/post though. Maybe somebody else will have better luck.

Peace,
dave

Shin,

you harvested two drives, Samsung SH-S223B and SH-222A. were they both a 3.8mm diode?

thanks,

manuel

Hi. Krutz.

Sorry for late reply.
These days were Korean traditional holiday season - Mid-Autumn holiday.
I post a photo of samsung 22x 3.8mm diodes.
Middle one is 5.6mm normal red diode.
Dye size seems to be the same as 5.6mm.

When the can is smaller but the die the same size (Or even the same die) the heat generated would be the same or? It would be nice to build a mini red with a high duty cycle :/

best regards

My Pioneer DVR-109 just burned laser head too ,,,
So consider add this on title . :-(

Wow those are tiny, i've heard some about these, but never seen a good photo for size comparison

First time here,

I recently purchase Samsung SH-S223. I was able to setup a driver to drive it and the problem is the diode seem a little weird to me.

This is my LM317 setup.

My weirdo diode (at least it sit in a beautiful heatsink)

My question is "Why is the top part of the diode seems to be trim off?"

One more thing is that it seem like it combine IR together with it. There is only 1 diode in the burner. The ribbon cable label the 3 pin as DVD GND CD.

Sorry for the OFF, but what is considered the minimum burner speed for harvest?
I have some 4-8X burners, could the diodes be used for something?

Thanks
