lots of good choices-- I always suggest if you are going to do ALL the work your first DIY laser should be as cheap (parts-wise) as you can find- as it is MUCH more painful to ruin an expensive diode-- but its a good idea to buy an easy to finish kit like DTR (et al) sells-- he (Jordan) has the best tutorials ever- great pics and he can assist you whereas many cannot.
