Does any company still make multimode pointers?

The 35mW pointer I have been using on guided birding trips has finally kicked the bucket, so I am on the hunt for a replacement. A while back I saw a nice two mode 520nm 5mW/50mW laser, and figured that would be perfect for birding trips (5mW for close/shady areas, 50 for brighter or more distant birds). Sadly, it looks like the site selling it (laserbtb) has gone out of business, and I can't find anything else like it. Does anyone know if there is anything like it on the market? Don't need the exact specs, just green, variable, and pocket sized so I don't have to carry 2 lasers around with me in the field.

A reputable company that still offers something like that is Sanwu Lasers

https://www.sanwulasers.org/

And a lot of their products have the multi operations mode.

Though it may be more power/price than what you're looking for... it's a shame BTB went away. There's still their parent company, sky lasers, that sells the same units, though they're ridiculously overpriced (in my opinion):

SKY Laser Pointers - High Power Green, Blue, Red and Infrared Laser Pointers Manufacturer with Worldwide Free Shipping

You could take a look at Sanwu Lasers, they have several multi mode (multi-power), lasers.
They have the pocket series, but they are only multi mode in 635nm (red), there is also the guardian series that has a nice 520nm, 50mW multi mode model.
Not sure either of these would interest you, or be in your price range, but Sanwu is regarded as a quality company here.

You beat me to it Z! :yh:

Sky Lasers doesn't carry a multi operational power green laser at 5 mW and another higher power. Sanwu doesn't either and both are more than you need to spend for a couple of small green lasers. You might want to start carrying two small pointers.....one at 5 mW and another around 75 mW. You could have both for ~$30.00, though the 5 mW would be the more expensive of the two.

Rich, can you build a host which can have two buttons, one for low output, one for high at 520 nm green? You build nice stuff, I've certainly been happy with the ones I bought from you, if you can make one like that, maybe chicken might be interested.

Maybe not so easy to do, thinking about this more, he probably would need a special designed driver for such.

Hi K,
Well if you have a host with the rear switch recessed into the tail cap there wouldn't be any accidental firing. I do this on my customs and you can stand them up right also. So there's no needful a second switch. Recessed rear switches are very safe.

Nice copper host work! :gj:
Not the easiest material to work with but excellent thermal conductivity, beautiful results, and substantial/nice heft

Hi Encap,
Glad you like it and yes you are correct about working with copper it’s aPIA and takes longer to machine. And if I make a mistake it costs me because copper isn’t cheap buy far. The heat conductor of the copper is outstanding no less. Thanks for the compliment buddy.
