Do we have any sketchup / 3D modeling experts?

Hey guys,

So as many of you already know, I work for a laser cutter manufacturer here in Sydney and I have a project I want to try out.

I have a google sketchup model of an Audi RS5 and I want to slice it into pieces in order to laser cut it out of thin wood or plastic. But I get an error saying the object is not a manifold solid.

Now as I understand it, this means its not solid and has overhangs and what not. What I am asking is, is it possible for someone to convert the sketchup model into a solid model for me.

Something like this would be perfect!

So you need an stl?

I can help with that if so.

Couldn't scale it with the software I got on my laptop, but I did work it into an .STL

Hope this is what you wanted?

Testing it out now... Damn there is a lot of polygons!

This may take a while for my work laptop to process... I'll let you know how it goes.

Nope... no good still same issue.

I'm going to try get a new model. That site I put up, you need to pay in order to download anything.

And no, I need to slice it from left to right.

Oh nice! Yes for sketchup it needs to be one group.

If you are able to slice the model, could you do it at 1mm and at 1.5mm intervals from left to right? Internals are not needed...

i put all in one group, interior and the most not visible parts are cut away and size is 200mm wide (from mirror to mirror)
if you want to try some i zipped .lwo and .obj

when sliced what gap between the sliced parts? 1mm?

*edit*..just for understanding..200mm wide and 1mm slices..so we get 200 slices..i tried but get error..so i simplified it more..cut wheels und front and bottom and with only 4 slicers its timeconsuming
