I know a sony 16x laser diode is visible in the night sky. But not like a green though. If you look eye level with the laser away from you then you can see the beam.

Thats what I figured, is it pretty cool to see in rain? because we get a lot of that here in Washington state...lol

Well rain in th dark I am sure you would see the beam sparkle a bit. But at night if you look down eye level with the laser you will see the beam nicely.

Rain does give some visibility when it hits it. I'm sure the drizzle in WA (I'm from there too ) would give it a nice shine. But as for visibility normally, it won't be too much except when it's dark or if you have it pushed really hard. Fog can make even a <5mW red a bit visible, so I say get a fog machine while you're at it.

yep i have to do that usually to see the <5mW 635nm's beam. it's impressive for a <5mW red to do that though
