Will one of the DVD LDs have a visible red beam?

I know a sony 16x laser diode is visible in the night sky. But not like a green though. If you look eye level with the laser away from you then you can see the beam.

Well rain in th dark I am sure you would see the beam sparkle a bit. But at night if you look down eye level with the laser you will see the beam nicely. ;)

Rain does give some visibility when it hits it. I'm sure the drizzle in WA (I'm from there too ;) ) would give it a nice shine. But as for visibility normally, it won't be too much except when it's dark or if you have it pushed really hard. Fog can make even a <5mW red a bit visible, so I say get a fog machine while you're at it.

yep i have to do that usually to see the <5mW 635nm's beam. it's impressive for a <5mW red to do that though :)
