I got a DX 5Mw red laser module with adjustable focus, LR41 batteries and a little switch, and make it to a mini laser until i`ll find 16x dvd diode and make mini "kipkay laser" :]

enjoy from the pics!

bad idea...
the "kipkay laser" or Maglight flashlight hack has no current regulation. it may work, but it will not work for long. i see in the pic that there is a driver. what is it (e.g. LM317 based, flexdrive, microdrive, etc..) you can build an LM317 current regulated circuit for about $3 or less from RadioShack and find schematics on this forum.

and welcome to the forum

LR41 batteries won't provide enough current to burn your diode, so I think it's safe even without a driver in this setup. But then again, it won't have much power or battery life either. Also make sure they sum up to the right voltage: 3 x 1.5V might be too much for a 16x DVD diode.

bah. My teenie burners are made to work off 3 button cell batteries. Works great. And this is with no driver.
