Dilda questions: Lifetime, power, batteries

Hi!
I just purchased the Dilda V2 from O-like and, while waiting for it to arrive, I started asking myself what your dildas` lifetimes are/were and whether you followed some kind of duty-cicle.

And how much mWs do you think I should expect with the enclosed 3.0V CR2 as opposed to 3.7V ones? Do you know whether Susie´s mW-readings are done with 3V batteries or 3.7V ones?

Susies reading are done with the batteries she supplies...
Normally with 3.0V batteries... output of the Dilda will be below 200mW..
I've seen it as low as 145mW with a DX Dilda..

I only use 3.6V CR2 in my Dildas and don't have one below 200mW...

Mine runs 242mW average on 3.6V but I cannot do a reading for my second one as my LPM broke :'(
So far there is no sign of diode degredation with my first one, and I have been running it on this higher current for over 3 months now (about 20 minutes every day).

I use mine until it has felt warm for about a minute, then let it cool until room temperature. It usually takes 4-5 minutes for it to heat up to the point where I think about switching it off depending on conditions around it. What feels warm to you is often cold for the diode, but it's always better to be on the safe side IMO.

Usually mW is around 170 with the enclosed batteries, and often in the 230mW range with 3.6V, but there is no guarantee that yours will do as good (or bad). Since I came across 8 rechargeable protected 3.6V CR2s on ebay for only $10.59 I have never used the old batteries :D Awesome power increase!
 
ok, thanks. I think I´m gonna stick to a duty-cycle of 1 minute then. Can´t wait to get my laser :).
 
Do a search on Ebay for "Juice Rechargeable" - the seller "Winneresales" sells 6pcs RCR123 3.7v rechargeables for $8.75 shipped in the US, I've been using his batteries for awhile now and I really like them (and so do the Dildas...)
 
Most people just use it until they're done... If you had a duty cycle that would kind of contradict what you're trying to do, right??


Battery life depends on how much you use it.... most people can generally get by on once a day I would imagine.



OHHHH the laser... I thought you were talking about.... well nevermind...



I think everyone needs to vote on a new name for this thing ;D ;D ;D
