Re: Deals on 532 nm OP +5 safety glasses?

wow , if you do let me know, i REALLY doubt you will find some with that budget. :o

Hmm, get them and test them out. You never know what your getting unless its certified. Lets us know of the results.

Yeah I ordered a couple of them. I payed with paypal so if they aren't what they are supposed to be I can easily return them. What are some good tests for Safety glasses? I don't have a lpm yet.

You don't really need OD5. Although better safe than sorry, you want to be able to see the laser well. OD3 should be enough for any handheld green laser.

Also... It's OD, not OP (Optical density. ;)).
LOL I did it twice too... :-[

Anyway I do kinda need OD 5 my laser (reportedly) peaks at 380 and I want a little less than 3 mw in my eye. 5 OD gives just that. I have some less powerful ones for observing the beam but these are for close range burning. I'm taking no chances with my eyesight. 8-)

Umm...your math is a little off...

OD5 would give you a tiny fraction of a milliwatt that isn't even visible.

Oh? At least I'm erring in the right direction. I've got some od4's on the way too. What is the proper equation btw?

Re: Deals on 532 nm OP +5 safety glasses? EDIT YES

Essentially, OD5 will knock the visible mW down 5 decimal places. So 380mW becomes 0.00380mW.
Reducing 380 to 3.8 only requires moving it down 2 decimal places hence OD2.

I'm not going to pretend to understand the math, but I have OD5 goggles and a 50mW 532nm and the point is very visible. For burning applications you don't need to see more than that, or... ?

To the OP: those goggles don't look the part. Why did you go for two pairs right off the bat...  :-?

I planned on testing them and returning them if I have to, but I'd rather not make two separate purchases and wait on (not to mention pay for) two separate shippings to show it off. Paypal makes it easy to get a refund so it was simpler that way. I'm planning for the best and worst at the same time.
