I have been out of the loop for a number of months as I have been doing my photography thing, but I was wondering how 589 is faring in the market. Are any manufacturers still producing them and selling to us in the USA? I had an issue with my phone thinking it was a water bender, and with the cost of a new phone I am thinking about selling my 589 to help cover costs BUT I worry I will never find one again if I do.

Thanks,
Isaac

CNI is still selling them. In fact I'm going to buy one in exactly 45 min. But they are sending it in three parts. With 3 weeks lead time.

Yep, 589nm is still available.

I'm on my phone so I'll just list the websites:
CNI
LaserGlow
DragonLasers(be careful with these guys, some of theirs are under-spec)

CNI is the only laser manufacturing company making/offering 589nm---everyone else, the resellers, simply buy from CNI

Laserglow and Dragon don't actually make anything--they just resell other peoples work.

Although CNI would still selling their handheld laser but I'm afraid there would not be another GB in the near future:thinking:

589nm is doing just fine. in fact, I believe some new uses for it have started to take off recently in biomedical last i'd heard. Though CNI like laserglow is under pressure to keep the high powered handhelds down last I had asked. They're planning to limit it down to OEM parts or Labbies. I'll see if I can reconfirm this.

Good for you man. But be warned, a laser kit is still considered a whole laser by customs, and can still therefore be seized without testing. Parts or not has no bearing on it legally as it states 'a laser or anything that can be constructed into a working laser'. And it's coming from a well known laser manufacturer. I can't imagine them taking it/paying too much attention....but just so you're aware, if they decide to look into it, I doubt they'll be too happy with it.

I for one would have liked the second GB to have gone through (or have known at the time the 1st GB was happening) but that was going on when I had checked out of here for some months. Would find a way to get in on another GB for 589nm IF we had some guarantees of output. Recently put together a 1.5W 520nm with a nice host as I didn't feel "safe" just placing an order of a 589nm outside of some guarantees. Know I'm not the only one regretting not getting in on the recent GB. If another was done I'm sure many would find a way to come up with the $.
I understand where you are coming from with this Isaac. Too many of us we feel like we missed the boat on this one and it's not going to come back around again. Realize there was one person who didn't get what he expected and unfortunately his story is what scared me away from purchasing on my own.
Will say that I would keep my note 4 over any laser I own. Use it much more than all my lasers that's for sure.
