Curious.. What does a blown Laser look like?

I was wondering if some of you unlucky people who damaged your LD, to become more like a LED, could post some of your pictures of it's output.  I wanted to see what it looks like.

And what have you guys done anything with it after it's blown? Used it in another project?

I sometimes use it as a test load. Other than that it looks like a dim red LED.

my broken opencan looks normal apart from bieng about 1/10 brightness with a vertical shear in it to one side (90degrees from the usual line) so thats a cracked cavity cant get pics havent got a camera

Usually there is a dim red glow about it, it's very relaxed, and is generally smoking a cigarette.
