i just thought of a cool idea. would it be possible to make a burning IR laser like the 400 mW ones pseudo sells with around 5 mW of green in it just so you could know where you were aiming.

Not easily -- it would be almost impossible to focus both on one axis.

Millionaire - that is an awesome idea - but like Mike said - unless you were using two seperate setups (most likely labby style) then it would be VERY difficult at best.

On some of the high power lasers they DO incorporate aiming lasers. Trying to aim with a kW range cutter would be amazingly impractical. Unfortunately even doing this in a lab style setup takes supplies and labor that are pretty expensive relative a <$300 laser. Doing it in a pen laser is not entirely impossible, but the cost of the laser would likely go up by at least an order of magnitude.

i tried it once. if you stick a piece of crystal from a greenie infront of an ir laser, you basically have some green, and a whole lot of IR
