Does anyone have experience using a Flexdrive, an X-drive, a Microboost, or similar common driver with a momentary switch, as opposed to click on, click off? I'm not sure if rapid flashing on/off would be bad for these drivers, or result in output spikes that could damage a diode.

The 301-type drivers handle it well but the lasers are clearly meant for momentary use. I'm not sure if their drivers are purpose-built to handle that, or if they are just general purpose drivers that will handle both constant and momentary.

Thanks for any advice; would the drivers mentioned above be fine in momentary applications or would I need something else?

Yep they'll be fine, even at several Hz rep rate. I've personally done it to a Flexdrive.
