It would use many, many times the glass and be many many times heavier and many many times the expenditure.

And in the case of a lighthouse it doesn't matter if your focused spot is crisp clear or not, you just want it focused. :p

i can do this and i reckon im getting atleast 50m. i thought of putting heaps as close together and trying the same thing.

i just want a 'laser' like beam from LED's to be a smart arse if coppas come to my house!! :cool:

EDIT: do you think adding aspects of lasers will work... see image.

I have a nice 3W blue star LED here, if I focus it correctly to a point like 3cm infront of it, I canmake stuff warm, but if you were to compare it to a laser, the divergence would be like 20mRad.

Post your set-up and I'll try to replicate it with a 5.5W royal-blue LED and see what happens.
