CNI Lasers / Eye-Protection

Hello. I'm new to lasers and I have some doubts (actually a lot of them eheh). I'm from Brazil and I hope you can understand me.

I want to know if lasers made by CNI or novalasers are worth it. Do they have a better build quality? Are they safer? Will they last longer than cheaper ones?

I want to get a 30mW one but I don't know if it is too dangerous... Can I use it without safety goggles? I'm a little worried about this because I've been reading about lasers and some texts say that one little reflection can blind you. But I always see videos and pictures with people using green lasers without any eye-protection.

Sorry for so many questions.  :D

Thanks in advance

Ohh wait... I found someone selling CNI Lasers on ebay. At lest I think it is. Here are some pics:

30mW is generally "safe." As is any laser when used safely and responsibly. I don't think you should worry too much about eye damage from a 30mW as long as you don't point the beam directly into your eye.

If you want a CNI laser, get it from NOVA. They have good customer service and their products are the best for their price.

I personally wouldnt trust an ebay seller. Especially since in their picture they have a picture of a CNI pen on the left and a scamlaser on the right. Inconsistency...

Don't buy off eBay :) You never know what you're buying, and lots of scammers are on there, so you're most likely going to end up with something dodgy.

Go NOVA, their quality control is one of the best around :)

You can cause eye damage with anything > 5mW if it reflects off a shiny surface and into your eyes. I don't wear goggles all the time if I'm just shining the laser off a white wall or something, because it diffuses the light quite well. However, for those really powerful lasers, or environments with reflective surfaces, you should get some.

You don't really need eye protection for a 30mw if you are careful. The only reason why you would get a 30mw is to see the beam and dot and if you get goggles you won't being having much fun. 30mw won't be burning anything.
Just don't point it at reflective objects and try not to stare at the dot on close objects.

Go with NOVA they have the best price and QC, they also usually give you lasers that are more powerful than stated, usually by 10mW or more. But you wont need protection for 30mW. Also try and avoid ebay lasers.

I think I'll have to wait a little time to buy a laser... I want to buy a X25 from nova but I'm not sure how much I'll have to pay in taxes. I think it's about 90~100% the product price  :o  It's likely to pay about USD 250 for a X25 and I can't afford that for now.  :(

Would they be able to send me the laser as a gift?  ehehe  8-)

Anyway, thx for your patience answering me   :)

(I hope you understand my english)

PM me with questions if you have questions about customs or about lasers and want the answers in portuguese :)
