CNI GB 6th round!

I got mine today too! Though when I shake the laser (without batteries), I hear a little rattle. :O And the spot is quite big at only 10 feet. :O Sound like a loose lens?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It's not the button. xD It's right in the lens area. Or at least I'm pretty sure it is. The spot is probably the size of penny at 10-15 feet.
I probably should also note, it's smallest focus point is at 1/2 ft.

Thanks,
Moptsp

I guess yours is defective then? I just looked at mine at about 15 feet and mine is significantly smaller than a penny. The only rattling noise mine makes is the button hitting the host but I know that's only because of the style of button.

I don't know.. I would have to get the laser open first. I'm not sure how to do that though. And I don't want to even try at the moment, as it may "void my warranty".

Nah I don't mean open the laser itself, unscrew the lens cover in the very front of the host.

Yep. I just did that. :D It is the lens. I'm able to stick in a small wire in a little hole (a turning whole I assume) and twist the lens in and out. :D

So I can fix it my self, I believe! Though is there any good way to focus it just right? I twisted it just right now with no real "accuracy" and it looks alot better. Though I'm not sure how fine tuned it actually is. Ill also need to find a way to keep the lens from twisting and rattling. It looks like there used to be a glue like paste whitch obviously came loose. I would assume to first get it tuned, but after, what would I use to hold it in place?

Thanks!

To be honest, I don't know. You can send Yobresal a PM. I know he ripped one of these apart once. Or you can wait for Glenn to chime in. I'm not sure if I had to guess I'd guess you can focus it somehow. I'm not going to check with mine though as it's perfect.

Ok, thanks though. Ill wait for Glenn to pop in. Yobresal may see this thread too as he has been in it some, and may even be getting something in this GB too. (not sure though)
I was thinking, for holding the lens in place anyway, too take some wax and sit it over the threads and then screw the threads over it. This should tighten it, but still allow for tuning. Though Ill wait for some others to help before doing it. Don't want to mess something up my self!

Thanks,
Moptsp

Teflon tape works good also.

Hey Moptsp, so sorry you had a loose lens, I hope you got a good fix done now. -Glenn

Glenn, you were right. The wait sucked, but was definitely worth it. I can't wait for it to get dark outside, especially with the snow. Beam shots much? :D

You can use pretty much anything. Just make sure it is something that will not get on the lens or melt or anything like that. I use a 2 part epoxy on most my lenses if I adjust them but If I think that I may want to fiddle with it later on then I use just a small dab of hot glue.
