Yes I was stupid enough to shine a laser into my camera.

A small but noticeable section of pixels is now fucked

How much will this cost to fix. The camera was $800 NZ two years ago

Sorry to have to say this, but the damage is not fixable (i mean, the CCD device itself cannot be fixed) ..... for have an idea about the costs, need at least to know the brand and model of the camera, for check if the producer sell spare parts, first (cause a good 70% of the producers reject any request of spare parts, and always say to the clients that the item must be sent to the authorized repair center)

A lesson learned....i know because i learnt the same lesson, the same way :(

Oh well, there only a few pixels big. For the most part the camera is useful :)

I have pics on my HD somewhere... I burned the CCD in my newer
cam, to fix I went on ebay and found the same model that was
not a working cam. Simply replace the CCD and it will be fine.

Depending on the cam you have to fix, be sure you are comfortable
with opening it up. Find a donor cam first, take it apart, then worry
about swapping the CCD. Practice on the dead cam, and take pics
for reference in case you have trouble when re-assembling.

Its possible, but comes with risk...

This is the pic of the 'new' ccd. The pic was taken with the damaged one
for ref in taking the good cam apart.

In the red circle, you can see the small 'slash' which was caused by
405nm in a spiro. The cam was only 1 week old when this happened.
The replacement used ccd cost 20$ IIRC from a dead Sony cam, same model.
