Can't decide on whether to build a direct diode green.

Now my car doesn't want me to have a new laser... Darn window motor just went out... Little does it know I am still going to build the laser..

Edit: Don't let my car see this post.

I won't let your car see :D Laser or Car ... can't decide ... Laser! What has this hobby done to us.

Tell me about it! Automotive is my big money taking hobby. Just dropped almost $800 on wheels! Still have to get tires for 'em. Clean Z by the way!

I need to save up for a new car, but lasers seem to keep getting in the way
$800 on wheels, are they gold plated or something? :D Things are too expensive these days.
Hey CB, how long have you had that car for. It looks in good condition.

I've had it for about 3 1/2 months now xD and aside from some paint chips (eco friendly paint that loves chipping) and MINOR damage to the front right corner, she is in pretty good shape or else I would have passed on her.

And the decision was more: Laser or window for now... (Is that a question?!?)
Don't worry though, the budget lets me fix my window motor too but laser is still first xD

That car is also a unicorn out of the Z's
It is an 06 that has the engine that doesn't burn oil and yet also has the facelift and OEM HID's.
That year was a transition year to a higher revving engine (that tends to burn oil) and from halogen to HID lights so I got the best of both worlds.

Only big downside to the car? It laughs at speed limits and hates going slower than 80mph...
And $800 on wheels is not too bad if they are good forged wheels. My tires alone are going to run me either $700 or $900 when I replace them depending on which set I go with..

Just sent in my order to DTR for one NDG4216 515nm Diode after getting my ANSER apart to verify what driver it had. Lazeerer x-boost mini v7 btw, NOT a microboost like I thought.

Thing was a tight build.. Take into account ALL of that had to fit with the switch holder lined up with the hole in the side of the host and had to be pressed in as one unit without skewing any of it.

Order of assembly: [Module] > [Solder friction ring/spacer] > [Solid Brass back half sized to fit] > [aluminum cylinder with driver inside] > [switch holder with switch, pcb, and contact spring]

Driver got Negative power from spring and Positive from a wire that was wedged in the notch in the aluminum cylinder.

I also ordered the parts to fix my window motor. lol.

You guys tires are not bad compared to my rubber habits =/ 295/45/17 MT ET Streets + 26x11.5x17" MT Slick plus the 275/45/17 Nitto 555 up front... smh..

Then you burn up slicks in a couple weekends on the brake.. nitrous refills....100+ octane 10$/gal and up... yep.

Well my car is my daily butt re-locator, Just wanted something with a little more kick than my 4 cyl 1999 frontier :P

I think if mine cost that much to run, I would have to walk to work...

An here I get annoyed because 93 octane costs $2.50 while that no-go 87 costs $1.89...

OP updated with pictures taken in decently lit room/workspace. Excuse the mess... I also may have used just a LITTLE too much smoke mixture...

Nice pics CB. Yes the 520 is a great colour. lol, the smoke was excessive :D

haha, I lit about an ounce of KNO3+C6H12O6 smoke mixture inside so yeah...
Don't own a fog machine and decided to use chemistry instead xD. nothing like bringing out the .77mw beam on a HeNe tube enough to get a decent picture of it...

As soon as I can save up the money without eating nothing but noodles for a month, I am going to start looking for an lpm, preferably with an ophir head.
That way I can see how much power my non gas lasers put out.
Guess I should also order a decent diffraction grating to determine what wavelength this green came out to be...

Edit, after seeing current prices, I will NOT be looking into an ophir based unit... $300 sensor alone is not justifiable to give me a power reading..

$175 + tax a piece for wheels is actually pretty cheap anymore. They're not forged, but flow formed. So you basically get the same benefits of forged. Lightweight too! They're a 15x9" wheel at about 12.8 lbs. each! I'll probably be into tires for around $700 myself, which is a bit pricey for 15s. But that's because I'm running an oddball size 225/45-15.

I've got 245/45-18's in the rear and 222/45-18's in the front. would look funny as hell with 15's on there xD not to mention all the spinning it would cause.

Definitely! Yours was made for a larger wheel. I have an '04 Mazdaspeed MX-5. So 15s fit it nicely.
