I've bought optotronics 5mw laser, jay told me it goes up to 8-9 mw when it heats up and was just wondering can this power burn something? If not raw maybe with magnification glass? I'm still complete noob when it comes to laser so I thought I would ask here :bowdown:

Nope, not enough power to burn. Going to need >50mW to start burning anywhere near effectively.

Ya no. Most wave lengths need at least a hundred mw or more to burn. with green its closer to two hundred but ir and uv a hundred will cause things to smoke

I'm actually curious that Jack told you it would even hit 8mw or 9mw. They are always set to 4.99nmw or a tiny bit less on his 5mw. Now for his his other pens those are pleasantly overspec
