just check the auto focus specifications. i bought a kodak camera a while ago for about $1000, and the thing doesn't have an option to turn off the auto , it is sooooo annoying, especially for taking pics\movies of sparks, it doesn't know where to focus to :-?

Yeah, I have a half-decent (IE, no where near as decent as biffters) Canon XTi with a nice macro lens, but that's a total pain to carry around (especially when you add in the tripod). I hate the pictures it takes, but I ended up caving and buying one of those ultra-thin Casio exilim cameras so I can just stick it in my pocket and forget about it. A lot more convenient!

My casio exilm lasted about a month and broke. I'm still trying to get it replaced. It works for about 5 seconds and then I get a camera stabilization error and it turns off... apparently they are REALLY touchy and a slight jolt ( never dropped it lived in my pocket that's not a scratch on it )can break the camera. Casio doesn't want to fix it under warranty, so i filed it under my credit card protection.... First and last casio I'll ever buy.

it did take awesome pictures and the hi res video was awesome. 7x optical zoom in somehting an inch thick and being able to use it while video taping was what sold me on it.

The last picture it took... ( rpl 260 )
