I just picked up a 500 mW 635nm customized laser diode module from DTR.
I was really impressed by DTR (https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/). He answered questions promptly. His prices were reasonable. I asked for a custom module (one of his standard 500mW, 635nm modules, but with the current tweaked down a bit) and he was very accommodating. In fact, I send him a paypal payment on Friday and I had the laser in hand and working on Monday. Part of that was that the mail cooperated, but most of the credit goes to DTR who modified the module within a few hours of the order and rushed it into the mail. He's someone I'll do business with again and would highly recommend to others.
His knowledge was solid. I'm an optical engineer by profession and someone who did early research in laser diodes -- and I can attest to the fact that he really knows his technology.
He really does deliver the power he says. That being said, I'll remind all of us, to quote, "you'll shoot your eye out, kid!" These lasers are well above the eye-safe level if used stupidly. Don't use them stupidly. They really will burn your eye out faster than you can blink. And the damage will be permanent. Know what you're doing when you buy something like this. The burden of safety is on the integrator - and you're buying these to integrate into a system, taking all necessary steps to make sure that they're safe. Google ANSI Z136.1 and follow the directions. Your eyes will thank you. *stepping off my soap box*
If you're looking for a high performance, solidly built product, at a reasonable price, and delivered quickly, go to DTR. You'll be happy you did.
