Hello im new to the forums :)
I need help.
I built a 2 watt blue laser before and I did something and it broke so I came here to ask for help so I wont mess up again and break my new laser.
Im gonna order some parts
[The Laser driver and module]

[The Driver]
http://www.ebay.com/itm/445-450nm-1-6W-2W-Laser-Diode-Driver-1-8A-Boost-Circuit-/231080087255?nav=SEARCH

my question is will this work for 1-18650 3.7 v Battery?

While I am really unsure about the quality of that driver it does say it is a boost and lists the input voltage 3.7V-4.2V which is the nominal/full charged voltage of a single Li-ion. Do you have a test load to set that driver? I see people commonly try to set a switching drive just connecting it to a DMM which can lead to the driver getting damaged, inaccurate current setting or leaving the driver with charged output caps and popping the diode when connected.

Personally I would suggest either an X-boost if you have to have a single 18650 or better go with a X-drive that is very efficient and produces a lot less heat which you can use two 16340's or maybe even two 18350's in a host that is fit for a single 18650. The X-drive is a solid laser driver and you can get it set to 1.8A no fuss trying to set it with a test load. I know some of the China drivers on eBay seem less expensive but you don't save any money on your build by buying a cheap driver if you end up looseing the diode and then have to buy a better driver and a new diode.

Thanks how do I set with a test load, my dad has a multimeter so how do I do it?Also I don't have a lot of money so im getting cheap stuff Im not gonna abuse the laser or anything. Where would I get an x-boost? and how much are they gonna cost me? I prefer only using 1-18650 only because I have like more than a dozen of those and I want it compact I don't wanna do like a double battery because it would be like really long Lol and I don't have those 16340 batteries and that would cost me even more just buying those batteries.

Instead of getting the module from dtr on ebay, get it from here. As for the X-boost, you can get it from here

Do I need to get it from his website as you mentioned or can I just get it from ebay ?
Any difference from buying his ebay and his website ?

Hi i would never buy a driver other than the amazing Xdrive buy Lazeerer. To make you build work properly buy the Xboost driver set to 1.8A from DTR or Lazeerer. You won't be sorry, crappy drivers like the one you listed are a gamble. I just don't trust them i only use the Xdives or SXD drivers in all my builds. I know they always work, go for the better driver and a little more money if you pop the diode you'll be really sorry. If you want to use 1x18650 cell you need the 1.8A Xboost driver. But you can also go with 2-18350 cells and use a regular !.8A X drive V6 to power the 2W M140 diode also. Go to the DTR site a buy the 2W M140 diode with the driver already connected this way your good to go. solder the two wires and your good,

maybe I can get from his website but he only has the ones that use 6-9v power I already built a host that only uses 1 18650 does he have them aswell? and set to 1.8 amp?

Hi first don't post twice use the edit button .
Ok PM DTR and ask him for a 1.8A boost drive to run a single 18650 cell with your diode that's all done. And you will be in business in no time. The fix is a no brainier you'll be satisfied

Yea you can use an X-boost but you have have the driver outside the module and heatsink it to your host body/main heatsink or drop the output to about 1W. If your host is fit for an 18650 you can use two 16340 or maybe even two 18350's and use the X-drive which will be a much simpler build.;)
