I think i'd like to just build my 1st good laser. I have never attempted this before. I'd prefer a green laser but I have a CD burner to work with if i just take that apart, i think its 16x or 32x

Ive seen a few tutorials on the youtubes but I was wondering what you would suggest for the most simple build.

should I go with prebuilt module?

You can't build a green laser from CD-burner.

CD-burner --> 780nm ir laser
DVD-burner --> 660nm red laser
BR-burner --> 405nm voilet laser
For green you need a green DPSS module.

Go with a red build, example lpc-815 or lpc-826. Red are the easiest build.

I second what Blord said. If you're absolutely new to lasers, I suggest the following components for a red build

LPC-826 Diode: That way it has brand new pins and isn't in a heatsink
DDL Driver: Plenty of threads around here. Just search LM317 Driver. It's cheap and efficient!

Of course you'll need an AixiZ module and a power source. But those are easy to get.

got ahold of a Bell 22-1-07221-8 Laser Key Chain today. 6$. not sure if the diode is worth doing anything with

A PHR build is simple to, maybe even simpler than a LPC-826 build as the diode is closed can and can take more of a beating than an open can diode.
