I saw my neighbors idiot cat its got no tail lol outside and decide to play with it so i used my A140 laser and i shinned it on the road so the cat can chase it, the cat keep staring at it for like 20sec not moving the head and run away very fast i was wondering its it because its blue !

(( The cat catch a bird last year , i saved the bird don't ask how  and i gave the bird some water from my hand and it flowed away ))

! am wondering if this belongs in the off topic section !

Well it is a laser question. It probably ran away because you shone a 1W laser at it.
Also it is possible that cats have higher perception to blue light. I'm guessing this was daytime so, what appeared dim to you may of looked very bright to the cat and could of startled it.
Imagine having a foreign bright light aimed near to you. Wouldn't you be a little scared? :p

I have noticed my cats get unnerved by blue and uv light myself.

I would not let an animal chase anything but a 5mw laser, if a cat comes anywhere near my blue I shut it off, it's too dangerous for their eyes to let them near it.

I did the same thing once, I was in the middle of nowhere ( in Texas, there's a lot of that there) :) I was at at convenience store and there were some stray cats around, so I took my my 445nm 1.8w Gaurdian out to see if I could get them to chase the beam, they all froze for about 30 seconds and than ran away. (Didn't shine it at them, about 20 feet away.) I guessing because it was at night and they could see the beam. Major let down, thought I'd have some fun. But they were having none of it. :(

Maybe because the color

I was shining it from my window like 10feet away from the cat it was daytime.
the cat was thinking maybe its this the light to haven, when you look at the cats eyes the pop out and staring at it, like owl eyes :pop:

Hi Red,
Very interesting reading with that link who would have know that considering we think most mammals see only Black , white and gray shades. Thats a good one buddy thanks for the education.
@ alien, you said you shined the beam in the road your lucky the cat didn't chase it to be hit by a car. I'm a dog person but it doesn't mean i don't like cats or other animals.

Rich:)

Thanks RCB for the link confirming my findings, I knew I saw something before with them being more sensitive to blue.
