A straw yellow filter helps filter out the strong violet/blue and leave the fluorescent colors. But the darn dot is so bright, it overwhelms everything...
You'll find many rocks that glow; common ones include calcite (found most everywhere - just go to a roadcut at night), fluorite, apatites, ruby/spinel (and probably some red garnets as mentioned), sodalite, wernerite, and lots of special FL minerals... There are hundreds but many are only responsive to the shorter UV wavelengths.
Optical calcite can be neat - it splits the beam in some cases.... Bring your laser to a local rock show (not the music kind) and you'll find lots of different glow rox.
Mike - glad you liked 'em (check out my auctions on Ebay for *real* glowrox - seller: minershop (not an ad, just tryin' to convert a few people to glow hounds ;-))
